There was confusion at the M A Chidambaram stadium in Chepauk, Tamil Nadu, on Monday when a police officer stopped a few cricket fans from bringing Indian flags into the stadium to watch the match between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Some fans tried to take Indian flags into the stadium to watch the match where Pakistan was batting. A police sub-inspector prevented them from doing so, causing rumors that the police were restricting the use of the national tricolor. However, a senior police official, when contacted, stated that there was no such restriction on carrying the Indian flag. "It is allowed. An officer acted on his own, and a departmental inquiry is underway," he informed PTI.
